Adenovirus is a group of viruses belonging to the Adenoviridae family, known for causing a variety of infections in humans and animals. In humans, adenoviruses can lead to respiratory infections (such as the common cold or pneumonia), gastrointestinal infections, conjunctivitis (pink eye), and other illnesses. Adenoviruses are non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses with a characteristic icosahedral shape. These viruses are highly contagious and can spread through respiratory droplets, contaminated surfaces, or water. Beyond their role in infections, adenoviruses are also used in gene therapy and vaccine development due to their ability to efficiently deliver genetic material into host cells. This antibody detects Adenovirus infected human cells.
