背景
Histone Acetyltransferase p300 (p300) is a versatile transcriptional co-activator and histone acetyltransferase that plays a key role in regulating gene expression. It adds acetyl groups to histone proteins, which leads to chromatin relaxation and promotes gene transcription by allowing greater access to the DNA. p300 is involved in a wide range of cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, DNA repair, and apoptosis. Beyond its role in histone acetylation, p300 also interacts with a variety of transcription factors and co-regulators to modulate gene activity. It is essential in regulating both normal cellular functions and responses to stress, and its dysfunction has been implicated in a variety of diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
