CXCL13, also known as B lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC), is a chemokine primarily involved in the recruitment of B cells to lymphoid tissues. It is produced by a variety of cells, including stromal cells and follicular dendritic cells in secondary lymphoid organs like lymph nodes and spleen. CXCL13 plays a crucial role in the formation of B cell follicles and the organization of germinal centers, where B cells undergo activation and differentiation. By guiding B cells to specific areas within lymphoid tissues, CXCL13 helps regulate the development of adaptive immune responses, particularly those involving antibody production.
