CCL21, also known as SLC (Secondary Lymphoid Tissue Chemokine), is a chemokine primarily involved in the recruitment of T cells, dendritic cells, and other immune cells to lymphoid tissues, such as lymph nodes and spleen. It is produced by endothelial cells and stromal cells within these tissues. CCL21 plays a crucial role in the organization of immune responses by directing the migration of immune cells to sites where adaptive immune responses are initiated. It is essential for the homing of T cells and dendritic cells to lymphoid organs, contributing to immune surveillance and the activation of immune responses.
